REGISTRATION OF CANADIAN PINZGAUER
Canadian Pinzgauer breeders have worked very hard to modify the breed to best suit the world beef market but are proud of the breed's Austrian heritage. To guarantee the integrity of the Canadian Fullblood Herd Book, intensive blood typing and now DNA analysis is performed on each Fullblood animal prior to admission into the Pinzgauer Herd Book. Each Fullblood offspring must be scientifically proven to be the product of its sire and dam. Having maintained this practice since the first Fullblood import from Austria in 1972, the Canadian Fullblood Herd Book remains undiluted and pure. This is one of the primary reasons why countries around the world look first to Canada as their source for absolute Pinzgauer seedstock genetics.The Canadian Purebred Herd Book only qualifies animals for inclusion at 94%, or at the fraction of 15/16ths for both females and bulls. All Purebred bulls registered in the Herd Book also must be genetically certified through means diagnostic genetic analysis.
